Happy New Year 2011
Hello my Button! Well I haven't gotten too much better with the updates but I really am trying :/ This year has been so exciting for you, so many new experiences! You are 15 months old and on the gas! But that's not really anything new. You are yapping our ears off over here with words like Tah(Hat), Szaaa(Trash), Caw(car), Ka(truck), Nana, Papa, Mamma, Dada, Hiiiiiii, Pa(P), GUUU(egg),Cie(gracie/sissie) and the ever popular bwoon(balloon). You eat pretty much everything but depending on the day, and how your teeth are feeling, sometimes you just chew the food and spit it all right back out without swallowing! Stop that you messy boy! Some of your favorites are white rice, turkey, applesauce, eggs, cereal bars, wheat thins, carrots, pears and zuchinnis. You shout EVERYTHING! If I open the refrigerator and you see the carton of eggs, you point and shout GUUUUUUUUU repeatedly until I recognize that that is indeed what you are saying. You LOVE to dance, to anything and everything, although Yo Gabba Gabba is your favorite. You also love trucks, trash trucks, dump trucks, tractors, semis, trucks of any kind! You point them out as we are driving, if it's trash day your little face is glued to the front window to get a glimpse and if it's not too cold we usually go out and wave to the trashmen and they of course wave right back to you. Lately if you hear a noise and I ask you what it is you put your mouth in a perfect little O and look around, it's so funny. You are a funny boy, with an easy smile for those you love. Mostly you laugh alot and run alot and try to get me to pick you up ALOT! You are only in the 50th percentile for weight at 25 pounds but in the 97th percentile for height! Long and lean, like a noodle! You have quite the crush on Yenna, you hug and kiss her and look at her adoringly the minute that you see her! It's a little unnerving, is that what it's gonna be like when you're older? In the mornings(the EARLY mornings!) you have taken to getting ready with daddy in the bathroom, he brushes his teeth, you brush your teeth. He spits, you spit. You watch him with those big beautiful blue eyes of yours waiting to see what you should do next! Then he has to iron his clothes so you can't be in there and you don't like that so much at all. You have taken to clapping your hands together in frustration, and occasionally flopping on the flooor, to which I kindly explain that that will do you no good at all. So far I don't think you believe me. Grace is your best bud, you greet her in the morning with a smile and a big hug and the other day you even held her hand for a minute, which just made my heart swell with happiness. Oh Jack, what can I say? You stole my heart and I hope you never give it back. Happy New Year Button, I love you more than words can say.

I mean really! You are so stinkin cute! Auntie Christine brought by her fixed lens when her and Miles came to play today so we took a few shots just for fun. You look so much like me it's a little freaky sometimes. Mostly you think that the word no is a signal for laughter, nothing to be taken seriously for sure but you are FINALLY sleeping throught the night! It took a few tries but you got it down with very little drama. Momma on the other hand had to go outside to escape from any possibility from hearing you cry, but the end result is worth it. You are happier from a better nights rest and I can actually keep more than one thought in my head at a time! Hallelujah! You are a good boy Jack, and for sure you love your sister. You just light up whenever she is around, she seems to know exactly what you want and how to get you happy, an unspoken sibling language that is a gift for me to see. As crazy as it is sometimes with the two of you I love love love to see you guys laugh and giggle together!
coco!
You love your Auntie Coco. She'll be leaving us soon but for now you are content to watch her while she smiles and sings to you. At 5 months you are not quite sleeping through the night although I am toying with the idea of sleep training you, otherwise knowna s letting you cry it out, but I haven't gotten desperate enough yet, soon though. You are a joy to be around otherwise though, happy and smiling mostly all the time. You are not quite sure about food yet, but you seem to love your rice cereal, sweet potatoes and carrots. I love you button and I will try to be better at keeping up with this blog!!!

You like lemons!
No really, you honestly like them and you were quite put out when I took it away from you. You make the obligatory squeezie face when you taste it but just keep going back for more! Oh Jack I love you and not just for the entertainment that you give me...

You're kind of crawling!
I'm trying to get up to speed here with your blog here's a start. You
have finally decided that you are going to try to harness all that
energy into your limbs to make them move! Yay you, maybe it's all the
sleep you've been getting lately?

Happy Halloween Mr. Button! Obviously you were a skeleton, and your sister loved showing you off to her friends! We went trick-or-treating and you alternated between sleeping and smiling the whole time. You didn't seem to mind all of the ruckus that the girls caused with all of their candy madness, hopefully a sign of things to come, for surely there will be many screaming, giggling girls in your future!

First Smile
At 5 weeks you gave us our first reward for a job well done! Daddy got your first smile, it came out of nowhere and showed us that we were at least doing something right. Daddy was so happy and so was I to see that at the very least we amuse you! A few days later I got one of my very own and the feeling was just as good! You are proving to be quite the happy boy, always intersted in what's going on around you. Can't wait to see what's to come!
Laundry
What can I say? I only have two hands and the basket was too big for the one arm carry so I improvised!
Taking you to school!
Look how little you look in your seat! Gracie was overjoyed with the thought of showing you off at Pre-School drop off! She even said that she would explain to all of her friends that they had to wash their hands before they touched you! When we got to school and finally signed her in to class I actually thought she would drop it, but no, as soon as everyone was seated on their mats she stood up and introduced you with a flourish..." This is Baby Jack". She was so proud, and as I left I don't think anyone noticed me wiping my happy tears away.
First Days at Home with your Sis
Again with the surprises, Button. I really kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, sure that it could not possibly be this easy for the Girl to love you so much. So sure that you would get fussy and show your "true" colors. I was wrong...AGAIN. She loves you to pieces, in fact it's hard to pry her hands off of you. Grace is taking her job as your big sister very seriously. My heart melts a little every time I see you together, imagining what it will be in the future. Oh and by the way she has already declared you to be her husband, so she can be in charge!
4 days old
You were amazingly co-operative for your very first photo shoot with Auntie Christine. Uncle Evan helped with the lights as we tried to think of more ways to pose you, all the while your sister and Miles were running around like loons! Thank Goodness for Auntie Coco who was on hand to help with corraling them while we were all dreamy eyed over soft squishy little you. Welcome to the madness little love, it's a fun and crazy life we lead.

Welcome to the world Button
On September 15th, 2009 you made your entrance into the world weighing in at 8lbs 6oz, just like your sister and measuring at 20 1/2 inches long. You were calm right from the start and cute as a button, hence the nickname. We'll see if it sticks! We had lots of visitors at the hospital, everyone wanted to get a peek at little you, especially your sister Grace. The first thing that she said to me when she first got to hold you was " Thanks momma, I love him." I was so nervous to have you, a boy, that I didn't really know what I would feel like coming home with a second baby and a boy at that, but all I felt was whole. like you were the piece of the puzzle that we didn't even know we were missing. It feels like you've always been here, and obviously were meant to be. We are not nearly as paranoid about you as we were about Grace, and you aren't really giving us any reason to be. You sleep very well and are taking a bottle every 2 to 3 hours with about 3 oz of formula. You are a very, very lazy burper however and we are anxiously looking for signs of the reflux that your sister had, I think you have it but I am trying not to be frantic about it. All in all having you here is so much easier and more wonderful than I thought it could be. Thanks Jack, for coming to me, I already couldn't imagine a world without you.
