Happy Halloween Mr. Button! Obviously you were a skeleton, and your sister loved showing you off to her friends! We went trick-or-treating and you alternated between sleeping and smiling the whole time. You didn't seem to mind all of the ruckus that the girls caused with all of their candy madness, hopefully a sign of things to come, for surely there will be many screaming, giggling girls in your future!

First Smile

At 5 weeks you gave us our first reward for a job well done! Daddy got your first smile, it came out of nowhere and showed us that we were at least doing something right. Daddy was so happy and so was I to see that at the very least we amuse you! A few days later I got one of my very own and the feeling was just as good! You are proving to be quite the happy boy, always intersted in what's going on around you. Can't wait to see what's to come!

Laundry

What can I say? I only have two hands and the basket was too big for the one arm carry so I improvised!

Taking you to school!

Look how little you look in your seat! Gracie was overjoyed with the thought of showing you off at Pre-School drop off! She even said that she would explain to all of her friends that they had to wash their hands before they touched you! When we got to school and finally signed her in to class I actually thought she would drop it, but no, as soon as everyone was seated on their mats she stood up and introduced you with a flourish..." This is Baby Jack". She was so proud, and as I left I don't think anyone noticed me wiping my happy tears away.

First Days at Home with your Sis

Again with the surprises, Button. I really kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, sure that it could not possibly be this easy for the Girl to love you so much. So sure that you would get fussy and show your "true" colors. I was wrong...AGAIN. She loves you to pieces, in fact it's hard to pry her hands off of you. Grace is taking her job as your big sister very seriously. My heart melts a little every time I see you together, imagining what it will be in the future. Oh and by the way she has already declared you to be her husband, so she can be in charge!

4 days old

You were amazingly co-operative for your very first photo shoot with Auntie Christine. Uncle Evan helped with the lights as we tried to think of more ways to pose you, all the while your sister and Miles were running around like loons! Thank Goodness for Auntie Coco who was on hand to help with corraling them while we were all dreamy eyed over soft squishy little you. Welcome to the madness little love, it's a fun and crazy life we lead.

Welcome to the world Button

On September 15th, 2009 you made your entrance into the world weighing in at 8lbs 6oz, just like your sister and measuring at 20 1/2 inches long. You were calm right from the start and cute as a button, hence the nickname. We'll see if it sticks! We had lots of visitors at the hospital, everyone wanted to get a peek at little you, especially your sister Grace. The first thing that she said to me when she first got to hold you was " Thanks momma, I love him." I was so nervous to have you, a boy, that I didn't really know what I would feel like coming home with a second baby and a boy at that, but all I felt was whole. like you were the piece of the puzzle that we didn't even know we were missing. It feels like you've always been here, and obviously were meant to be. We are not nearly as paranoid about you as we were about Grace, and you aren't really giving us any reason to be. You sleep very well and are taking a bottle every 2 to 3 hours with about 3 oz of formula. You are a very, very lazy burper however and we are anxiously looking for signs of the reflux that your sister had, I think you have it but I am trying not to be frantic about it. All in all having you here is so much easier and more wonderful than I thought it could be. Thanks Jack, for coming to me, I already couldn't imagine a world without you.
